Couples Therapy BochumBirgit Baumann

The free initial consultation

Before you commit to couples therapy, you should know who you are speaking with. That is why the first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing.

Appointment

Choose your appointment

An appointment for both of us

You come together. Both of you describe your view, and both of you are heard. This is the usual route and generally the fastest one.

I would like to talk on my own first

You come on your own at first – because your partner is still hesitant, or because you want to sort things out for yourself.

If the conversation shows that the matter is first of all your own situation, Psychologische Beratung Bochum on birgitbaumann.com is the better setting. I will say so openly rather than begin couples therapy that is not what you need right now.

What happens in the free initial consultation?

In about thirty minutes you set out what is going on for you. I ask questions, explain how I work, and tell you plainly whether I am the right person to accompany you. You then decide in your own time – nothing is signed and nothing is settled during the conversation.

Discretion

What is spoken in the practice stays in the practice. As a Heilpraktikerin für Psychotherapie I am bound by professional confidentiality.

There is no diagnosis, no report to a health insurer, and no record that might later appear with an occupational disability or life insurer. That is exactly why many couples choose a private practice.

What to bring

Nothing on paper. These three questions will still help you get the most out of the conversation.

  • Where in everyday life do you notice most clearly that something is not right?
  • What have the two of you already tried – and what of it helped, even briefly?
  • Six months from now, what would show you it had been worth it?

If none of these questions has an answer yet, that is fine. Then we begin right there.

The next step

Get to know me without any commitment

In the free initial consultation we clarify what is going on for you and whether working together feels like a fit.
